The tracker identifies the person and tracks that person’s face alone unlike conventional face trackers which track any face. Unlike conventional face recognition systems, which require an offline, pre-determined model/profile ( which are obtained from several pictures of the subjects at various angles and with different facial expressions). Some trackers extract facial features from the input and compare them to the already saved features of the user. Some use 3d sensors to capture the information about the shape of the face ( which is then used to identify distinctive features on the face, such as the contour of eye sockets, nose and chin etc …). This tracker builds up a bio-metric face model/profile for the user using a normal web camera (or any 2d camera) online (during run time) and and keeps updating the model/profile to track more efficiently with time.
